Human Trafficking Facts

                                                           What is Human Trafficking?

Poverty is often identified as a major contributing factor to human trafficking. In areas where poverty is rampant, individuals may find themselves in desperate situations, making them more susceptible to promises of employment and a better life elsewhere. Traffickers exploit this vulnerability, often deceiving victims with false promises of well-paying jobs or opportunities for education. Once the individuals are under the trafficker's control, they are often forced into labor or commercial sex work. It's important to note that while poverty can increase vulnerability to human trafficking, it is not the sole cause. Other factors such as political instability, lack of education, and gender discrimination also play significant roles.

Remember, this is a complex issue with many contributing factors and it's always a good idea to do further research for a comprehensive understanding.

Human trafficking is a crime that forcefully exploits women, men, and children. According to the United Nations, human trafficking affects every country in the world, but it’s not talked about enough. So we’re talking about it. Read on to learn more about human trafficking, and find support resources and ways you can take action at the Polaris Project.
